Job Opening: Editor for Topco Media (South Africa)

Job description

We are looking for a full time editor as well as freelance editors to manage the editorial content of our various business-focused magazines.

The candidate must be well-qualified and have relevant business contacts and knowledge. The editor should be able to lift and give inspiration to our magazines, readers and advertisers. The applicant must have entrepreneurial business flair and have the potential to add value to our products. Ultimately, the editor is the face of our magazines, and should be able to represent our company.

Some of the daily tasks will include:

* planning and managing the editorial content within a specified budget
* liaising with freelance writers, contributors, illustrators and briefing designers
* manage and write weekly B2B newsletter
* writing special features
* conceptualising features that will capture a regular business audience.
* managing editorial staff, i.e. writers
* oversee and update website content
* visit advertisers from a customer-relationship building exercise ct, durbs & jhb,
* write copy for all marketing material
* manage a flatplan and work according to a production schedule
* ability to represent the company at functions and ability to do presentations to large gatherings
* understanding and implementation of methodology in awards processes
