CapeTownMagazine.com is looking for an online content editor with a passion for Cape Town as well as a keen interest in social media and SEO. A solid knowledge of the Cape Town area and the management side of content creation is imperative. You should be able to inspire, manage and grow a small team of writers and interns to propel the online magazine to new heights through creation of sharp, intelligent and creative content that appeals to a wide audience and gets the whole world talking about Cape Town in 2011. We write about everything - from township tours to five-star hotels. Are you ready and are you a content chameleon?

Responsibilities:

• Growing overall readership to target in 2011
• Producing and editing top quality content, including advertorial and press releases
• Content Management using a CMS: maintenance, updating daily/monthly content
• Develop monthly themes
• Create and manage monthly newsletter
• Client management: Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients
• Liaising with the sales team to position client content optimally on the website
• Traffic and document all client related content
• Maintaining excellent communication with other editors, events and sales teams
• People management including supervising and motivating the editorial team
• Creation and planning of sharp social media content for our social media channels
• Planning, developing and implementing editorial strategy

CapeTownMagazine.com is an online lifestyle magazine about Cape Town with a mix of editorial and advertorial content, covering restaurants, events, things to do, nightlife etc. Our online magazine also appears in German and Dutch (KapstadtMagazin.de and KaapstadMagazine.nl). We have a strong international and fast growing local readership. Our current focus is to reach locals, tourists and the travel industry overseas via the website, newsletter, twitter, Facebook and mobile. We have seen continuous growth year on year and consist of six full time staff and a small group of freelancers.

Requirements

• A relevant tertiary qualification is preferable
• A professional writing portfolio
• At least two to three years online editorial and project management experience
• Solid track record
• Exceptional writing, briefing and proofreading skills
• Internet marketing and SEO experience
• South African ID
• Drivers license

Advantageous

• Experience within social media and multimedia
• Ability to speak and/ or write Dutch and German
Personal Skills/Attributes
• Excellent organisational and time management skills
• An ability to multitask and work under pressure
• Positive can-do-attitude, thinking solutions not problems
• Confidence and enthusiasm
• Creative thinker (we wanna tell stories)
• Ability to write from a 0 star to 5 star perspective with the same passion
• Self-motivated with an ability to work and think independently
• High level of personal presentation
