Job Opening: Features Editor for Child Magazine (South Africa)

Child magazine is looking for a Features Editor who will be responsible for compiling the monthly features list; commissioning and editing all the magazine's features and resources; organising and running features meetings; mentoring in-house writers; building relationships with freelance writers; researching and writing articles; editing and proofreading text; and generating story ideas. You will also collaborate with the website team, ensuring its content is in keeping with the tone and quality of the magazine. Ideally, this position will suit a parent who is passionate about making the lives of other parents easier - through top-quality articles, practical trustworthy advice and reliable resources.

• a minimum of five years' experience in magazine publishing
• a thorough understanding of what constitutes good journalism and the ability to brief and edit features to this end
• top-notch communication skills
• excellent writing ability and grammatical know-how
• an eye for detail and good research abilities
• the ability to meet strict deadlines
• strong organisational and time-management skills
• excellent admin skills
• the ability to work well in a team
• a sunny disposition
