NAACP's Youth Council Black History Month Student Essay Contest (Virginia)

Deadline: 22 February 2011

Pittsylvania County NAACP's Youth Council invites County students in grades eight through 12 to participate in an essay contest for Black History Month. Prizes are $200 for first place, $125 for second place and $75 for third place.

Participants should answer the following essay questions: "Who was the most influential, historical black figure of the Civil War era? Why? What impact has he/she had on Americans today?" Essays should be 700-800 words long. Deadline is Feb. 22.
