CITY PRESS has a vacancy for an Entertainment and Celebrity Reporter in their AUCKLAND PARK office.
The most suitable candidate will be a seasoned journalist with integrity and a proven track record in celebrity/showbiz journalism.
The incumbent will be responsible for the following:
Gathering entertainment and celebrity news from across South Africa suitable for the readership of City Press;
Writing accurate and balanced articles for internet and print publication;
Contributing pithy, accurate articles for other parts of City Press in print and online as required;
Obtaining images and pictures to accompany articles when necessary;
Representing the newspaper at launches and other entertainment events.
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
Three to five years' experience in news journalism;
Proven track record in entertainment/showbiz/celebrity journalism;
Relevant degree or qualification in journalism;
Able to work well in a team, under pressure, and meet strict deadlines;
An extensive contact base in the TV, music, arts and entertainment industries;
Valid code 8 driver's licence;
Keen news sense and ability to initiate story ideas;
Good command of written English;
Proven ability to write copy that is accurate, legally sound and exciting;
Provide a comprehensive portfolio of published articles on entertainment and celebrities.
