Job Opening: Sports Writer for TEAMtalk Media (South Africa)

City: Cape Town

Job description

TEAMtalk Media, publishers of the websites www.cricket365.com, www.golf365.com, www.football365.co.za, www.planetf1.com, www.planetrugby.com and www.extreme365.com, are looking for Sports Writers/Editorial Assistants to add to a vibrant Editorial Department.

The candidates' key responsibilities include the following:

• Generating sports content
• Subbing copy from external suppliers
• Conducting telephonic interviews with sports personalities
• Maintenance of websites
• Doing minute-by-minute text commentary for live events

The following are the key requirements for the job:

• A tertiary qualification - Diploma in Journalism or related field
• A sound knowledge of the online publishing industry
• Photo editing skills
• A basic understanding of Content Management Systems
• Excellent command of the English Language - written and spoken
• Computer literacy

Candidates must be prepared to work on weekends and during sometimes ungodly hours as dictated by sporting fixtures.

As part of the 'interviewing' process we will require applicants to work for a normal shift or two in Editorial, affording us the opportunity to run the rule over them in an actual work environment and gauge their suitability.
