Job Opening: Deputy Editor for Heat Entertainment Magazine (Media 24, South Africa)

Deadline: 25 April 2011

Job description

Heat, South Africa's premier celebrity and entertainment magazine is looking for an experienced journalist with solid editing and managing experience to join its team in Sandton. The position requires a senior journalist who is both creative and organised, and can stay calm and positive under pressure.

You will assist the editor-in-chief in managing the day-to-day running of the magazine across all the platforms it publishes on, and duties will include forward planning, briefing writers, editing copy, signing off pages and driving social networking.

The ideal candidate will be digitally savvy with an understanding of new media, will have worked on a magazine or newspaper for at least five years with experience of weekly or daily deadlines and will have managed a team.

An interest in celebrity culture and entertainment will be a plus, as will an off-beat sense of humour.

Send a brief CV along with a letter motivating why you are the perfect candidate to Zelda Cottle at zcottle@media24.com by 25 April.
