We now seek to recruit for the following position to strengthen our East & Southern Africa Division.

Description:

The appointment will be negotiated either on full-time or part-time basis and the appointee will assist IFDC project coordinators in the editing of its specialized Market Information Systems (MIS) websites and related communication materials. The successful candidate will have experience either as an editor of a news website or as a journalist committed to the highest standards of the profession. The incumbent is expected to be able to interface with the projects team in order to source and produce the editorial content of the websites.

The position is tenable in Nairobi, Kenya, initially till 31 December, 2011, but there are prospects for renewal.

Under the supervision of the project coordinator based in Nairobi, the Web Content Editor will

· Post news, events, publications, links and similar information on IFDC MIS websites (AMITSA and AfricaFertilizer.org) using our dedicated CMS

· Organize and manage web based tracking of interesting articles, websites, publications, events of interest for IFDC MIS websites (RSS feeds, news alerts, etc)

· Assist the team to:

o edit and publish AMITSA monthly newsletters (use of web based email distribution software)

o manage email distribution lists (addition, editing, deletion, etc)

o in the creation and maintenance of social presence of MIS websites on the web, including Facebook and Twitter accounts

o produce success stories, interviews, posters, leaflets, brochures, user manuals, etc

Person Profile

- BA or BS degree, preferably in English, communications, Marketing or Journalism or a related field.

- Experience of at least 2 years in an online editorial environment.

- Knowledge of the agricultural environment is an advantage

- Good command of French language is an advantage.

- A thorough understanding of online editorial best practices and priorities, excellent writing and editing skills.

- Ability to manage multiple assignments and tasks while meeting deadlines.

- Experience with web content management systems (CMS) and social networks.

- Strong computer skills, including MS Office applications.
