SARIE magazine has a vacancy for a sub-editor / rewriter in its Cape Town office. The post is available immediately.
Responsibilities
• Editing and rewriting of especially fashion and beauty text, as well as writing of relevant features, where necessary - digital and also for the main magazine
• Headlining (lively headings) and accurate proofreading
• The suitable candidate must ensure that copy flow meets demanding production deadlines
Requirements
The successful candidate must
• Be fully competent in written and spoken Afrikaans and English
• Have spent at least 3 years as a sub-editor / rewriter at a newspapers and/or a magazine
• Have specific interest in fashion, beauty and international trends
• Have an excellent general knowledge
• Have an eye for detail
• Be able to prove his/her skills as a copy writer / rewriter / sub-editor / translator
• Have thorough knowledge of InDesign
• Think conceptually and have a good organisational ability
• Have good people skills and the ability to take the lead where necessary
• Also be a good team player
• Be able to work under deadline pressure and be willing to work after hours
