Job Opening: Digital Editor for FairLady.com (Media24, South Africa)

The position will be based in CPT but will require occasional travel to JHB when needed. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a clear understanding of the role of Digital for a magazine brand and be able to identify, investigate, propose and manage Digital-related opportunities. S/he will work closely with the editorial, sales and marketing teams and report directly to the Digital Head.

The ideal candidate would need to be passionate about both magazines and Digital and an adaptable team player who is self-motivated with strong sub-editing skills.

Duties would include:

• Brand building and driving traffic to the website & seek opportunities to build and extend our online presence
• Conceptualising and preparing online content/interactive elements for magazine websites as well as a favourable environment for advertisers
• Liaising with third party service providers (developers and online sales agency)
• Managing and encouraging user relationships and feedback
• Conceptualising and managing online campaigns and competitions
• Preparing strategies and feedback reports
• Growing our social media base via Facebook & Twitter
• Compiling regular online-related newsletters and ad hoc mailers
• Liaising with online advertising sales executives with regard integrated campaigns to ensure they provide value for our readers and meet editorial style and standards.
• Implement & maintain a mobile strategy
• Managing, packaging, co-ordinate & drive daily uploading of relevant, fresh & accurate content that will drive traffic
• Working with the marketing projects manager to offer regular competitions
• Write & manage Digitorials
• Creating the monthly online page in the magazine
• Manage all traffic, production and budgets requirements on projects
• Make sure that all aware of and buy into divisional digital strategy & ongoing knowledge sharing amongst staff
• Managing and encouraging user relationships and feedback

Job requirements:

• A journalism qualification
• Social Media expert & Digital Native
• Minimum of three years experience in Digital publishing
• Content management experience
• Must be deadline driven and be able to work under pressure
• Background or history in the magazine publishing industry
• Relevant tertiary degree would be advisable
• Initiative and hungry to explore new territories
• Technology-savvy
