Job Opening: Senior Journalist for Rapport (South Africa)

Rapport has a vacancy for a well-versed journalist who has made his/her mark in the daily press, at magazines and/or the local press - somebody who wants to grow and broaden his/her journalistic horizons. The incumbent will report to the news editor in Johannesburg.

Duties will include:

• Writing authoritative news reports and articles in Afrikaans for Rapport and its online and mobile products;
• Creating and maintaining an extensive network of contacts and news sources;
• Contributing original and practical ideas for stories and articles.

The successful candidate will meet the following requirements:

• At least 5 years of journalistic experience, preferably at an established newspaper;
• Discerning judgment of what is newsworthy;
• Good writing skills and a preference for stories of human interest;
• The ability and motivation to do investigative journalism;
• A valid driver's licence.

In exchange for the successful candidate's services the company offers a competitive remuneration package, 13th cheque as a bonus and membership of the retirement and medical aid funds should the candidate qualify.
