Reporting to the Africa Editor your key performance areas will include:
- Monitor the wire services and news feeds for the latest news on Africa
- Work on the news desk, write scripts for news inserts and illustrate the story visually in video editing
- Set up guests to be interviewed during the various bulletins
- Assist in crafting intros and cues for anchors in studio
- Stand-in as bulletin producer when the situation requires it.
- Mentor and check scripts of junior writers on the news desk
Requirements
- Excellent command of the English language
- Excellent writing skills
- Good editorial judgement and interpretational skills
- Ability to work under pressure making deadlines
- Willingness to work irregular and long hours
- Minimum of five years experience as a journalist
Note:
The successful candidates will be required to work irregular and long hours, including weekends, public holidays and standby shifts. These are contract positions only.
