Date: 3 March 2012

SOPHIATOWN 100: MOTSWAKO CELEBRATION!

This year sees Sophiatown celebrating 100 years as a neighbourhood – a mix of communities over a century, experiencing all the attendant richness and tragedy of life before, during and after apartheid.

March 3rd - Poetry afternoon with Siphiwo Mahala from 14H00

Sophiatown Heritage and Cultural Centre, Cnr Edward and Toby Street , Sophiatown, Johannesburg

The first in a series of Literary Encounters and flowing words - join us in the historical space of Dr AB Xuma's house in the present-day Sophiatown. Siphiwo Mahala will read from his work "African Delights" (2011). This encounter will be followed by a spoken word session with young and upcoming artists. The floor is yours. The event is hosted by the Trevor Huddleston Memorial Centre.
