There will be a lecture (in English) on Shakespeare’S Italy and its African connections at the Italian Institute of Culture on Wednesday 20th June 2012 at 7.00pm. Free entry. The lecture will be given by Prof. Shaul Bassi of the Ca’Foscari University of Venice.
ABOUT THE LECTURE
Many works by Shakespeare are set in Italy. Some people have fantasized about his journey to the peninsula, in the cities of Romeo and Juliet, Othello and Shylock, Kate and Petruchio, Julius Caesar and Coriolanus. This talk will present an overview of Shakespeare's Italy, with special emphasis on its lesser known African connections.
