EDITOR (Johannesburg)

JOB DESCRIPTION
  • Overseeing that the editorial processes flow according to set schedules and deadlines
  • Initiate and conceptualise unique content of interest to the journal's target audience
  • Reading and rewriting articles
  • Checking facts and references
  • Working closely with the sales staff on the journal
  • Working closely with advertisers
  • Handling of editorial problems and queries
  • Uploading stories to the website and maintaining it
  • Writing of e-newsletters for the journal
  • Writing in-depth, opinion forming articles for the journal
  • Interviewing of experts within the industry and turning that into an in-depth article

REQUIREMENTS
  • Degree/diploma
  • Impeccable command of the English language, as well as excellent writing, editing and proof reading skills
  • MS Office
  • Excellent telephone manner
  • Strong administrative and planning abilities
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work to deadlines and well under pressure
  • An ability to work as part of a close-knit team
  • Previous trade journal experience
  • Must have own reliable transport and a valid driver's licence
  • Must be able to work after hours when needed
