On Saturday, 28th July 2012, Book N Gauge, Lagos’ leading book culture event will be featuring, Emmanuel Iduma, author of Farad and Myne Whitman, author of Heart to Mend. The event, the monthly offering of Pulpfaction Book Club, will also host two singers, Christine and Babatunde who will be serenading the audience with splendid music. Emmanuel Iduma and Myne Whitman are two emerging voices making significant inputs to the resurgence of new writings in Nigeria. They will share with the audience their loves of books and their undying passion for promoting literary arts.

EMMANUEL IDUMA: Emmanuel Iduma is the co-founder of Iroko Publishing, a creative enterprise that consistently uses the online imprint Saraba Magazine to understand human issues through the lenses of literature and to unearth new voices. Emmanuel was also the organiser of TEDex-Ife, a gathering of solution providers and creative minds. Emmanuel’s debut novel Farad has been described as an unusual, compelling and enthralling novel fit for the heights of an established novelist.
MYNE WHITMAN: Born in Enugu, Nigeria, Whitman is an acclaimed frontline romance novelist and blogger. She is the author of two novels, A Heart to Mend ,a story of self discovery and unconditional love in the vibrant city of Lagos and A Love Rekindled, a tale about first love, ethnic conflict and broken promises. Her major influencies are Danielle Steele, Nora Roberts, Buchi Emecheta, are Flora Nwapa. Whitman’s is the winner of 4 Naija Blogs Awards and her books stood on the Amazon Kindle bestseller list for months; a rare feat for a Nigerian author. As a blogger, she has garnered respectful following as she weaves consistent stories and issues through her posts on www.mynewhiman.com. She spends some of her time with a growing Nigerian audience through Naija Stories, a critique website for Nigerian literature. She lives in Seattle, US, where she is a member of the Pacific Northwest Writers Association and a critic at the Seattle Writer’s Meet. Myne will be presenting from a recent anthology of new stories.

CHRISTINE: Born on 12th October at William Harvey Hospital, Asford-Kent, England, Christine comes from a family that has been very supportive of her music career from the beginning. For a child that started speaking shortly after her second birthday, and whose first few words were at first incomprehensible songs growing into several disjointed pieces, Christine’s sound has grown to produce the beautiful ballads and infectious songs that has continued to captivate her ever-increasing listeners since crafting her first song at age 8.
BABATUNDE OGUNSEINDE: Babatunde is a creative artiste with a bias for music and poetry. The folk and soul music act has performed on different stages; at Motherlan, the Alliance Francais Ibadan, Artmosphere, a book culture, music and arts event in Ibadan and during the Free Medical Mission of The Bridge Network, Ibadan. Babatunde understands his craft and wields it making the audience encounter an unforgettable nostalgia. His songs are also borne out of deep thoughts and common experience. Babatunde was recognised by the IB Poetry Awards (a UK based organisation) as one of the leading lights who is using his art positively in Nigeria.
