Deadline August 3 | Citi FM Write Away Contest (short story writing contest | South Africa)

Deadline: 3 August 2012

The Write Away Contest 2012 has been officially launched at the Coconut Grove Regency Hotel. The contest has evolved over a period of six years to become the nation’s most anticipated writing contest for school pupils and the excitement and competitive spirit that the competition triggers is expected to be at an all time high this year.

This program is geared at complimenting and extending the impact of the Write Away Contest by getting seasoned educationists with a specialty in linguistics to address the complexities of the English language, serving as a refresher course of sorts to many who sought to improve on both written and spoken English. This ran concurrently with special student engagement sessions which are being held countrywide to sensitize students about the Write Away Contest.

The ‘Write Away’ Contest is an annual writing competition open to pupils and students who are between 10-14years. Stories written must not be less than 600 words and must be in the participants own handwriting. The entries must be signed by parents or guardians, who must also ensure that their names and contact numbers are boldly indicated on the stories.

This year's topic: Write a story with your own imaginary characters that ends with the idiom: 'Rome was not built in a day.'

The entries must be sent via post to P.O. Box, 14123 Accra Central, Accra or hand delivered to Citi FM (behind the Adabraka Police Station). All Entries must be received by the 3rd of August 2012.

The winners will go on an all expenses paid one week trip to Cape Town South Africa. The Write Away Campaign 2012 is sponsored by Merchant Bank, SIC Life, VRA, The Host and Indomie Instant Noodles.
