As part of the cultural programs of the United States Embassy in Algiers, a writing contest for young people is launched.
Interested candidates are invited to write an article on dialogue among religions. The text may include international or national issues, historical perspectives, or personal experience. Participants should describe the concept, role, and purpose of the dialogue between religions in the modern world. A panel of religious leaders and members of the press will select the three best articles and authors will be rewarded through a ceremony to be held at the residence of the U.S. Ambassador in Algiers . The three best papers will be published in national press. First prize is a laptop, while the second and third prize winners will receive books (in English and Arabic) and one year of English classes.
Conditions of participation: Participants should be aged between 15 and 18. Articles may be written in Arabic, French or English. The deadline for entries is set for September 20, 2012. The article should not exceed 600 words and the text should be accompanied by full name and contact details (postal address, phone number and email address) of the author. Articles should be sent to the email address, Algiers_webmaster@state.gov (please include "writing contest on dialogue of religions" in the subject of the mail), or by fax at 021 607 335 (please mention "writing contest on dialogue of religions" in the subject of the fax).
