Ochre Moving Pictures Script Development Program (South Africa)

Deadline: 17 August 2012

Ochre Moving Pictures is producing a series of ten budget films of broadcast duration. Conceptually driven, each story will be stand alone, and is contained entirely within a single location. Writers will need to contribute their voices, experiences and strong narrative ability to the series.

We are therefore looking for a cross-section of script writers who have experience in writing for film, television or theatre. Ideally, they should have at least one script broadcast or produced. However, this is not essential if the writer shows clear talent.

THE FIRST PHASE OF SCRIPT DEVELOPMENT HAS TWO REQUIREMENTS:
  • Firstly, to attend a day’s workshop after which each writer will be asked to submit two (half page) story synopses, to which their names will be attached (should they be selected). For this they will be fully paid regardless of selection.
  • Secondly, should their story or stories be selected for production, they will be offered a development contract (from treatment to shooting script). For this they will be paid fully per script.

Writers are asked to submit a CV and a sample script that best represents their writing ability (their sample need not have been broadcast or produced).
