GAWBOFEST 2012 Opens September 21st (organized by Ghana Association of Writers)

The Ghana Association of Writers (GAW) invites all Ghanaians, especially authors, publishers, librarians, teachers, parents, children, illustrators, students and all book lovers, readers and the general public to the GAW BOOK FESTIVAL, dubbed GAWBOFEST 2012.

The event is being organised under the auspices of His Excellency the President, Mr. John Dramani Mahama – a writer member of GAW – under the theme Empowering Ghana through Reading. Some of Ghana’s most famous personalities from entertainment, culture, politics, business and sports, including the President, will read from their favourite books at the event.

VENUE: National Theatre

ACTIVITIES AT THE FESTIVAL INCLUDE:
  • Book readings
  • Poetry reading and performances
  • Storytelling
  • Book exchanges (bring an old book and exchange it for another from someone, perhaps a complete stranger)
  • Balloon crafts Face painting
  • Spelling bee and quiz
  • Writing clinic (bring your unpublished poems, short stories, articles, novels for free and instant evaluation by experts
  • GAW bookshop – a one-day bookshop of members’ books at discount prices
  • Publishers stands (for book sales and displays) Meet your favourite author
