Premise to Script : Hands-On Course in Writing Episodic Children’s Television (Westdene, South Africa)

The Premise to Script-course will take the beginner writer on the journey of writing an 11minute children’s television episode. From pitching an idea for a story, putting it into words, selling the idea, outlining and structuring an episode and finally, most importantly WRITING it!

In practise this process usually takes place over six weeks, we will make it happen over 8 weeks, to give you – the writer – some breathing space, while still getting you accustomed to the pressure a screenwriter works under. We will work with an existing animated series, you will learn the parameters of the particular series, the characters created for the series as well as the rules of the story. Within those you will learn to write an episode of animated TV.
