The 31st annual Sudan Studies Association meeting intends to publish one or more volumes of papers within the field defined by the conference theme: SUDAN IN THE WORLD.
Negotiations are underway with Cambridge Scholars Press, which has recently published a previous volume of SSA conference papers, and has invited us to make a new proposal this year.
The editorial team comprises Richard Lobban, Carolyn Fluehr-Lobban, Abdullahi Gellab, Souad Ali, Stephanie Beswick and Jay Spaulding.
Prospective contributors are invited to submit chapter-length papers on topics in any field of Sudan Studies relevant to the conference theme.
Priority will be given to papers presented in person at the conference; however, consideration will also be given to other contributions. The decision of the editors is final.
ABSTRACTS:
Each prospective contributor must submit a brief (250-word maximum) abstract introducing the study to be offered.
Those who have already submitted abstracts for the 2012 conference, and who intend to develop for publication the ideas expressed therein, are requested to submit a fresh copy.
Prospective contributors who did not submit an abstract for the 2012 SSA, or who intend to write on a topic that differs significantly from the material introduced by the abstract already submitted, must now submit a fresh abstract.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:
All materials to be considered must be submitted electronically in Microsoft WORD. Please send them to Jay Spaulding.
If your material includes embedded non-text graphics, statistical presentations, charts, or other non-text embedded entities, please prepare both a version that includes them and a simplified text-only one that does not, accompanied by a separate file containing the material to be embedded This will simplify the editorial process.
Please keep the editorial board apprised of your current email address at all times.
DEADLINES:
- The deadline for submission of new abstracts is: 1 November 2012.
- The deadline for submission of completed chapter drafts is: 1 January 2013.
- The editorial board will notify prospective contributors of its decision by: 1 March 2013.
