Job Vacancy: Managing Editor for Man Magazine (Cape Town, South Africa)

Man Magazine is a revolutionary men's magazine with the philosophy of 'creating better men'.Man Magazine strives to do things differently - challenge the status quo, which is currently not satisfying the men's magazine market. It strives to compete internationally as well as locally, and the quality of every aspect is either already, or soon will be, in line with international standards. Man Magazine is owned wholely by 2Thirsty Holdings.

POSITION: Managing Editor
  • Hours: 30+ hours per week. Long hours will be required close to deadlines. A fully equipped office will be provided but hours can be worked from anywhere, any time. The priority is finishing work rather than putting in a set number of hours.
  • Remuneration: R5 000 - R6 000pm basic salary (to be reviewed in 6-12 months) + commission on advertising sales + expense account + share options
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Completed or in-progress degree related to management
  • Some exposure to journalism (writing and/or editing)
  • Superior English skills

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Sourcing and editing written and graphic content
  • Managing freelancers
  • Managing social media, maintaining a blog, and sending newsletters
  • Selling advertising
  • General office administration
