BENSON KIMANI:
KIMANI a.k.a opposite ya momo a.k.a skintight is a 25yr old artist/poet inspired by 2pac,the Notorious B.I.G,nas, Jay Z and Kanye west. His inspiration locally comes from Kitu Sewer and Kalamashaka.
He started writing poetry as a way of venting out his anger because the people around him mistreated him, causing him to suffer low self-esteem, so much so that he4 had ZERO confidence in himself. What he wrote awakened the inner poetic "beast" within and he felt rejuvenated.
Benson is was raised in single-parent household and has never met his dad. He has engaged in all sorts of economic activities, from construction work, hawking various wares, sales and currently selling spare parts in grogon downtown mechanics.
Kwani? Open Mic takes place at Arfa Lounge, inside IMAX Cinema, along Mama Ngina Street on 5th February 2013.
