The Chaeli Campaign presents DisABILITY Dreams, a short story writing competition that encourages writers to create stories that challenge current understandings, and misunderstandings, of disability in South Africa.
The Chaeli Campaign has launched its 2013 short story competition, with the aim of encouraging budding African writers to talk about disability.
Entries are now open. Deadline for submission is 22nd of March, 2013.
- Stories must be previously unpublished and must be the exclusive work of the entrant.
- Stories must be 600 words or less.
- Entry is free.
- Entries may be in English, Xhosa or Afrikaans.
- Entries should be emailed or sent to The Chaeli Cottage, 18 Culm Road, Plumstead 7800 Cape Town.
- Email Entries: must contain the entrant’s name, the title of story, the entrant’s physical address, entrant’s date of birth and contact details. Use ‘Chaeli Short Story 2013’ in the subject line when sending an email.
- Posted or delivered entries: Must include a cover page with the entrant’s name, the title of story, the entrant’s physical address, entrant’s date of birth and detailed contact details.
