Job Vacancy: Language Facilitator at the University of Johannesburg

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • An appropriate Masters degree in the field of Applied Linguistics or language education or equivalent.
  • A minimum of two years experience teaching English language in Senior Secondary context and/or higher education teaching experience.
  • Experience in materials development.
COMPETENCIES:
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Ability to demonstrate a thorough understanding of subject matter clearly to students.
  • Knowledge of multiple methodologies of instruction.
  • Ability to lecture, teach, present, reflect, collaborate and adapt.
  • Experience in designing, moderating, executing and marking assessments.
  • Skilled at inspiring, motivating, guiding, assisting and supporting students.
  • Capable of classroom management, academic planning, organising and administration.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
  • A minimum of two years experience in teaching English language in a higher education academic development context.
  • A teaching qualification.
  • Good organisational and interpersonal skills.
JOB SPECIFICATION:

As a Language Facilitator I, you will be required to:
  • Support the Senior Coordinator: Access Language and Literature.
  • Develop/teach/lecture/facilitate and assess Access Language and Literacies effectively.
  • Develop Access Language and Literacies student material.
  • Implement appropriate academic development assessment strategies and tools in Access Language and Literacies modules.
  • Liaise with the external and internal environment.
  • Assist with quality assurance practices in the Access Language and Literacies portfolio.
  • Conduct relevant research..
