Job Vacancy: Online/ Print Journalist for Caxton Newspapers (Johannesburg, South Africa)

Caxton & CTP is a major participant in the South African print media industry. We are involved in publishing a number of regional community newspapers, The Citizen daily newspaper, and 13 major magazines, as well as commercial printing, packaging, stationery manufacture and book printing.

Caxton Local Newspapers, a division of CTP Limited, publishes free community-based newspapers and websites Currently, Caxton Newspapers in North West Johannesburg is looking for three reporters who have all-round journalistic and photographic experience and an interest in both print and online writing.

Diploma or degree in journalism with at least one year's experience in a news room is required. The Journalist will write daily articles for the web and weekly articles for print following a prescribed style, manage social networking across all relevant platforms, manage content and news angles, and build networking relationships within community. The journalist will also be required to cover live events and be involved in photography and newspaper layout.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Excellent command of the English language.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team or independently.
  • Own reliable vehicle with valid driver's licence.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Willing to work evenings and weekends.
  • Proficiency with a camera.
  • Planing and organisational skills
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Interest in what is happening in the community.
