Job Vacancy: Senior Journalist for Sondag (Media24, South Africa)

SONDAG has a vacancy for a tabloid journalist who enjoys a challenge and who has already made his or her mark in the daily press, magazines or the local press. The incumbent will report to the assistant editor in Johannesburg, but operate from the Pretoria office.

DUTIES WILL INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
  • Write investigative and exclusive news reports and articles in Afrikaans for SONDAG and its digital/web products;
  • Taking and editing of own news photos and videos.
  • Create and maintain an extensive network of news contacts;
  • Make original and feasible suggestions for reports.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • At least four years' experience in journalism, preferably at an established newspaper or other media;
  • Have a keen news sense and feeling for newsworthy items and a sharp eye behind the camera;
  • An excellent writer with an appetite and feeling for tabloid journalism;
  • Exceptional ability and self-motivation to deliver analytical and investigative journalism;
  • A valid driver's licence;
  • Willingness to work uncomfortable hours.
