Job Vacancy: Stock Market Reporter for Bloomberg News (Johannesburg, South Africa)

Bloomberg News is seeking an experienced stock-market reporter to be based in our Johannesburg bureau. The successful candidate will join a team of reporters and editors who have set the standard for fast, accurate and insightful coverage of equity, fixed-income and foreign-exchange news. The role requires someone with experience at a financial publication or real-time news service. The reporter will write stories on shares that are moving or trading the most, break news on companies, write up analyst reports, interview fund managers, regulators and stock market officials and propose feature stories. The ideal candidate should have experience covering equity markets and have contacts in the industry.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is essential
  • Previous financial journalism experience is essential
  • Experience of working in a real-time news environment is desirable
  • Knowledge of covering markets is essential
  • Proven track record of writing financial stories
  • Ability to write quickly and concisely under deadline pressure
  • Fluent English (both written and verbal) is essential
