Job Vacancy: Sub Editor at Media Nova (Johannesburg, South Africa)

JOB DESCRIPTION:
  • Check spelling, grammar, style and tone of all copy.
  • Check copy to ensure spirit/tone of original is not lost.
  • Cut copy to fit layouts.
  • Write captions, headers and blurbs where necessary.
  • Check article credits, facts and sources; make sure work is original.
  • Look out for inconsistencies, contradictions and repetition.
  • Help to sign off proofs.
  • Reasonable amount of overtime may be required.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • At least three to five years' experience as a sub editor.
  • A qualification in English (diploma or degree).
  • Excellent communication and organisation skills.
  • A sharp eye for detail.
  • The ability to stick to deadlines and work well under pressure.
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Outlook and ability to use the internet effectively.
  • Basic knowledge of InDesign.
