CUSTOMERS: The position will report to our Senior Web Editor and be part of the editorial team for the DStv.com website. You will need to liaise with the DStv channels, DStv business and external partners regarding website and social media platform content.
OUTPUTS: This is the part that’ll no doubt sell this position to anyone and everyone; you’ll be working with us, we’re all instrumental pieces of a large, dynamic puzzle that fits nicely inside our vibrant environment. As a team, we’re constantly evolving and changing with the times; we’re always doing our best to keep abreast of new media trends and technology.
THIS IS WHAT YOU’LL BE GETTING UP TO:
Besides hanging out with our exceptionally awesome team, you’ll also have many responsibilities that’ll need to be carried out to near perfection. This should be fairly easy if you’re 100% passionate about what you do:
- Write entertainment news stories that’ll keep the rest of the world engaged in what’s going on around them:
- Contribute original news articles every week around programming
- General entertainment stories of interest to our audience
- Promote original shows
- Planning and implementation
- Revise and upload content supplied by TV channels and producers
Degree or Diploma in Communication, Media Studies, Journalism or English
In order to best slot into this role, you’ll need to back yourself up with of a wealth of knowledge. This will cover the following areas:
- Knowledge of what people are watching and what they’re talking about
- Proven ability to write engaging, clean copy, fairly quickly
- Ability to edit the work of others at a fast pace
- Proven use and extensive knowledge the Internet
- Web writing experience is an extremely huge advantage
