Storyline Media Screen Story Workshop (Botswana)

Date: 2 or 16 March 2013

In late January we ran an intensive three-day workshop for a 12-member creative and vlcsnap-00047production team developing their first television drama serial. A day each was spent on story (screenwriting), performance (acting) and production. The “story day” received excellent feedback (there were four writers were in the group). So we’ve decided to run a One-day Screen Story Workshop following that successful format and content.

FROM BIG PICTURE TO SMALL PICTURE: FROM LOGLINES TO SCENE BEATS

A unique day primarily for aspiring screenwriters but also essential for anyone who has to turn words-on-paper into action, images and sound. This includes directors, cinematographers, editors and actors.
  • Morning practical exercises on developing loglines.
  • Mid-morning critical viewing where we see how action and conflict drive a story.
  • Afternoon exercises that get you out of your chairs and into the meat of the scene by applying actor and director tools to develop meaning and tension in a scene.
The day will get take you from thinking of scripts as words-on-paper to an understanding of the action and conflict of story as physical, visual performance. You have two dates to choose from: Saturday 2 March or 16 March. Cost is P650. per person (catered).
