The Fourth Knysna Literary Festival Opens March 19th (South Africa)

Current affairs–politics, adventure, mystery and a dash of cuisine – are the themes of the fourth annual Knysna Literary Festival to be held in Knysna, Western Cape from 19-24 March 2013.

Renowned authors and raconteursinclude Deon Meyer – 7 Days, Rob Caskie – Rorke's Drift and Shackleton Expedition, Riaan Manser – Around Iceland on Inspiration, Sarah Graham – Bitten, McIntosh Polela – My Father my Monster, Shaka Sisulu –Becoming.

Launched in 2010 by Ling Dobson of Pam Golding Properties Knysna, the Literary Festival aims to celebrate literature and encourageliteracy.

“Our goal is not only to expose locals and visitors alike to South Africa's literary talent, but also to stimulate the children of Knysna and encourage them to read and write more,” says Dobson. “We have awriters' competition and theatre activitiesintended to inspire young people.

“The Knysna Literary Festival is a perfect way to give back to the community and,for the second year, beneficiaries include the e'PapChildren's Feeding Project and theTSiBA Eden Campus library."

The festival promises to expose the rich heritage of history and culture that has meshed together to make Knysna unique, and also challenge people's senses and literary perceptions.

The fourth annual Knysna Literary Festival will take place from 19 to 24 March 2013 and, boasting renowned local authors as guest speakers, the 2013 event promises to be a wordfest not to be missed. Featuring the likes of Deon Meyer, McIntosh Polela, Riaan Manser and Sarah Graham, the festival also presents a variety of events that combine the written word with uniquely Knysna experiences. Join the Delicious Word Journey and tour homes at Pezula Private Estate while enjoying exclusive wine tastings and delectable dinners, or board the Knysna Paddle Cruiser with Rob Caskie for a discussion on the Shackleton expedition and book. But that’s only the preface to the chapters of excitement and fun that await you during the rest of the four-day festival.
