Call for Applications from Arab Journalists: Goethe-Institut's Cultural Journalism Training Course in Germany

In autumn 2013 the Goethe-Institut is offering a two-month advanced training course in Germany for cultural journalists from the Arab world. A four-week seminar phase in Berlin and Munich is followed by individual internships at institutions in all of Germany.

The aim of the programme is to enhance the professional skills of Arab cultural journalists, to set up a self-supporting Arab network between the journalists and their organizations, and to promote the dialogue between German and Arab institutions.

CULTURAL JOURNALISTS
  • Training: September 2 to 27, 2013 in Berlin and Munich
  • Internships: September 30 to October 11 or 15, 2013
  • (2-4 weeks individually) nationwide
PARTICIPANTS:
  • Independent journalists from the fields of print, online, radio, or television with initial experience in cultural reporting
  • Age: between 25 and 40 years
  • Verifiably at least three years of professional experience
  • Verifiably good English skills
From the following countries: Egypt, Algeria, Iraq, Yemen, Gulf States, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia.

SEQUENCE:
  • Application deadline: May 15, 2013 at the Goethe-Institutes in the countries named above
  • September 2013: Advanced training in cultural journalism
  • (4 weeks, trainer: Patricia Corniciuc, Andreas Unger)
  • October 2013: Internship at German media institutions
  • (2-4 weeks)
  • Followed by: Awarding of certificates
  • 2014: Follow-up meeting
