Digital Content Editor wanted | KFM Radio | South Africa

Deadline: 30 June 2013

Primedia Broadcasting’s Digital Content Unit is looking for self-motivated and creative leaders who have a passion for seeing their work roll-out across multiple platforms. If you are excited by what multi-platform technologies allow you to achieve in terms of story-telling and interaction, this may be the home for you.

Transmedia editors are responsible for leading Primedia Broadcasting’s efforts to extend and add value to its content across multiple platforms. Managing a team of content magpies, you’ll be picking the best of our on-air content and extending across platforms and media types while simultaneously initiating your own video and “web-only” projects that may impact on-air. Working closely with Primedia Broadcasting’s news, programming, digital and multimedia teams, it is your role to lead the creation of content that will go onto our websites and social media platforms, drawing both on Primedia’s award-winning radio shows and on the multitude of “web-only”: ideas that are generated by the business’s content producers. You see stories as a tapestry of sound, words, video, graphics and user interaction and are able to harness disparate skill-sets and people to deliver the final outcome.

To be ready to step into this role, you would need:
  • A fair whack of experience in journalism (but not only of the hard news variety)
  • The ability to lead and inspire a group of journalists and producers to produce the best multiplatform, transmedia content on offer
  • The alacrity to respond to the pace of radio
  • The gumption to sell your stories back to radio programmers, presenters and the custodians of our social media platforms
Your journalism experience could’ve garnered in any part of the media world from web to print and from hard news to entertainment. Ideally you’d be able to show us evidence of how you’ve already traversed the worlds of traditional and new media.

Each day will be different. You will juggle responding to breaking news stories by creating context and additional content with creating content verticals by curating existing content. If you are this person, then Primedia Broadcasting’s Digital Content Unit, in Johannesburg or Cape Town, is likely to be the home you’re looking for. Suitable candidates will be selected in accordance with Primedia Broadcasting’s Employment Equity Policy.

All interested applicants to please forward CV detail to: broadcastingcareers@primedia.co.za (Subject Line: APPLICATION CV: Digital Content Editor). Correspondence will only be conducted with short listed candidates. Should you not hear from us within 2 weeks of the closing date, please consider your application unsuccessful.
