Baba Ebiks @ 50 Poetry Competition (Nigeria)

The Society of Young Nigerian Writers presents Baba Ebiks @ 50 Poetry Competition for Nigerian writers between the ages of 10 and 35.

Ebika Anthony is an outstanding artiste and writer whose creative eclecticism in various genres of the arts endears him to fellow artistes, art lovers and patrons. He was the Chairman of the Oyo State Chapter of the National Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (NANTAP), Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA). Also former National PRO (South) of the Association of Nigerian Authors. Presently, Ebika Anthony is the president of Centre for Poets and the P.R.O. of the African Heritage Research and Cultural Center. A professional Puppeteer and the Director of Ebiks Theatre Studio.

PRIZES TO BE WON INCLUDE:

Book prizes, free membership into the Society (Plus Membership Certificate and Membership Card), and publication of Voices from Ebiks Studio (in E-book and printed formats), Award of Certificate of Participation to participating members and outstanding entrants. Also, the whole incomplete works of the celebrant will be given to first, second and third winners of the competition.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
  • Primary School pupils between the ages of 6-9
  • Secondary school students between the ages of 10-16
  • Tertiary Student between the ages of 17-35
GUIDELINES:
  • The competition is open to anyone aged from 10 to 35 and must be a citizen of Nigeria
  • Submitted work should be in English, unpublished and not currently submitted or accepted for future publication.
  • Work must not previously have been awarded a prize in any competition nor may be simultaneously entered for any competition other than this one.
  • Work must be your own original work. The work must be typed and 1.5 line-spaced.
  • A poem per entrant
  • Work must be on a separate sheet of A4 size, which must not bear your name, class, age and school.
  • No entry for is required but on a separate sheet of A4 you should show your name, address, title of the poem submitted and please tell us where you heard about the competition.

  • The closing date is June 15, 2013 while the result will be out on the 20th June, 2013.
  • Judges decision will be final; no correspondence can be entered into.
  • The Award giving ceremony date will be announced later.
