The Saif Ghobash-Banipal Prize (for Arabic translation)

The Saif Ghobash-Banipal Prize

Established in 2006 and most generously sponsored by Omar Saif Ghobash and his family in memory of his father, a passionate bibliophile. Supported by Arts Council England. The prize was established by Banipal Magazine and the Banipal Trust for Arab Literature.

An annual prize (£3,000) for published translations of full-length works of imaginative and creative writing of literary merit and general interest

The annual deadline for entries is 31 January

Eligibility for the 2010 award:

> The work must have been first published in the original Arabic no more than 35 years preceding its submission for this prize.
> The publisher may be based anywhere in the world but the translation must be available for
purchase in the United Kingdom.

How to enter:

> Submissions must be made by the publisher.
> Publishers may submit as many entries as wished.
> Please complete this entry form and send it with five copies of the translation and three copies of the original work (which may be photocopies) to:

Conditions of entry : The decision of the judges is final and they reserve the right not to award the Prize if, in their opinion, no works entered reach a sufficiently high standard. Judges may call in books if they so wish.
