Call for Abstracts

The ENHANS International Workshop on “Extreme Natural Hazards and Disaster Risk in Africa” International Program Committees invites the submission of abstracts on work related to the topics of the workshop to be considered for poster or oral presentation at the Workshop. The deadline for submission of abstracts is Friday, 19 November 2010.

Abstract Submission Instructions

Abstracts for the Workshop must be submitted via e-mail to Ms Thereza Botha (thereza@technoscene.co.za). Faxed and mailed submissions will not be considered. Only abstracts submitted in the correct format, as outlined below, will be considered.

Before submitting an abstract, please carefully review the following guidelines:

1. Abstracts must be submitted in Microsoft Word format using the proper abstract format (see below)
2. Abstracts must conform to the following outline: Abstract Title, Authors and Institutions, and Abstract body
3. Abstracts must not exceed 250 words (not including title, author(s) and affiliations), which must include a brief introduction, methods, results, discussion and conclusion.
4. Abstracts must be single spaced with a clear line between paragraphs.
5. Abstracts must be free of typographical and grammatical errors.
6. Tables, graphs, images and references must not be included.
7. Please replace Greek letters by the actual word, e.g. alpha, beta, gamma, delta etc.
8. Standard abbreviations may be used for common terms only. Otherwise, any abbreviation should be given in brackets after the first full use of the word. Abbreviations may be used in the title, provided the name in full is outlined in the body of the abstract.
9. The first author must be the presenting author and this person will be required to register for the meeting in order to ensure their abstract(s) is included in the final program. Deadline for first author registration is 15 December 2010.
10. First authors are permitted to submit up to two abstracts only.
11. Each abstract has to be accompanied by a short résumé of the presenting author (maximum 150 words).
