Po.e.Treats African American Poetry Contest

Deadline: 10 December 2010

I think its time that we get our Po.e.Treats Poetry contest going again on a consistent basis. And in recognition of this weeks event with Ms. Iyanla Vanzant, the theme for this installation of Po.e.Treats will "Peace from Broken Pieces." This means all poetry submissions must utilize the complete phrase "peace from broken pieces" within the poem. The subject matter and technique is writers choice; however, each poem must use the phrase "peace from broken pieces" or be disqualified from the contest.

The other contest rules are as follows:

1. The poem must be submitted as a blog post on The Lit Lounge with the tag "Vanzant Po.e.Treat." (Create a profile if you don't already have one.)
2. The poem must be posted to The Lit Lounge by December 10th. (The winner will be selected by Dec 17th)
3. The use of profane language or explicit content is strictly prohibited.

The winner will receive an autographed copy of Iyanla Vanzant's new book Peace from Broken Pieces.
