Description:

The Washington Informer, D.C.'s number one source for African-American community news and information, has an immediate employment opportunity for a part-time Web Editor to update copy daily. The perfect candidate will have a minimum of five years experience in a daily or weekly newsroom. A firm command of AP Style and sound editorial judgment are a must. Job duties include, but are not limited to: maintaining the overall flow of copy, assigning web writers, writing news copy, rewriting press releases, uploading copy and photos, and managing web content. Salary is negotiable. We are also seeking freelance writers for the print and e-editions of The Washington Informer. Freelancers should also have a solid command of AP Style, inverted pyramids, and the ability to turn copy around quickly, meet established deadlines, and construct proper leads. Freelancers are paid $50 per published story.
