Editor - Media24: Women's Magazines

Media24's women's magazines division requires a dynamic magazine professional with a passion for health and fitness for the editorship of SHAPE magazine - one of South Africa's leading health, wellness and fitness magazines. The successful candidate will be based in Cape Town and responsible for producing the South African edition of this international brand on time, within budget and to the highest possible standards of quality.

Key Responsibilities:

• Full responsibility for producing monthly editorial products that comply not only with the strategy set by the Publisher, but also adhere to the guidelines set out by the international licensor
• Conceptualising and driving content development across platforms
• Driving design quality and ensuring the magazine's design is of the highest quality
• Inspiring a dynamic team to excellence
• Work with the publishing team to meet circulation, traffic and advertising revenue targets and contributing to the brand's overall development
• Staying on top of South African and international health, fitness and wellness trends

• Proven editorial experience
• A passionate interest in health, fitness and wellness issues
• Excellent communication skills
• Excellent editing skills
• Excellent writing skills
• A real understanding of magazine design
• Excellent people skills
• An understanding of cross platform publishing
• The ability to conceptualize creative solutions across platforms
• An understanding of social media
• Proficiency and fluency in both written and spoken English (fluency in Afrikaans would be an advantage)
• A working knowledge of various computer software packages (especially Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Internet Explorer)
