Job description
Gathering sport news, doing interviews, re-angling stories, presenting soundbites and doing follow ups where necessary, while building an extensive contact network within the sport environment.
Personal Skills/Attributes
o Have a passion for journalism and an extensive general knowledge of especially sport and current affairs
o Presenting radio sports news bulletins and sports inserts
o Should have a broadcast voice (recommended)
o Be a team player
o Have exceptional communication and written skills, in English and Afrikaans. A third language will be an advantage
o Fluency in English and Afrikaans essential
o Be able to work under extreme pressure and to tight deadlines as well as flexible hours
o A working knowledge of a camera, video camera as well as a voice recorder
o Have a background in print and/or radio sport news
o Have keyboard and IT skills. Audio and video editing ability would be preferential
o Have an existing contact network in the sports industry
