Job Opening, Sub-Editor for Daily Sun (South Africa)

Daily Sun, the phenomenal People's Paper, has a vacancy for a layout sub-editor in its Johannesburg production office.

Duties:

· Finalising news and other copy in Daily Sun's punchy and vivid editorial style;

· Artistic layout of tabloid news, feature and sport pages adhering to strict deadlines; and

· Working as part of a team to ensure the unique editorial quality of Daily Sun.

Qualifications and experience:

· Matric or an equivalent qualification;

· At least four years' journalistic experience will be advantageous;

· Experience on layout software;

· A diploma or degree in journalism or related field will be advantageous; and

· A valid driver's license is essential.

Competencies:

· The ability to deliver tabloid copy ready for publication according to strict deadlines;

· The ability to do creative layout of tabloid news pages;

· The ability to write punchy and accurate tabloid headlines;

· Advanced computer skills;

· Well-developed English language skills;

· Good knowledge of newspaper production; and

· Thorough knowledge of current affairs.
