Job Opening: Chief Sub Editor for The Guardian (Tanzania)

Job responsibilities of this position include:
  • Overseeing the subbing desk team
  • Allocating stories to various sub editors and make sure stories are subbed as per the agreed standards and quality
  • Check and sub editorial copy as allocated by the Managing Editor for accuracy, contents, taste, house style and grammar
  • To make the copy clear, correct, concise, complete, and consistent to meet the standards set by the Guardian Ltd.

Qualification and experience requirement
  • The applicant for this position must have the following qualifications
  • He or She should be a holder of University degree in English with strong command in Grammar and Literature
  • Must have a postgraduate Diploma or Masters in Journalism
  • Must have experience of about five years in a similar position or have worked as a sub editor for about five years in a reputable English newspaper.
  • Should be between 40 and 55 years
  • Must be skilled in using computer
