Egerton University was founded in 1939 as Egerton Farm School and was upgraded to an Agricultural College in 1950. In 1986, the Agricultural College became a constituent College of the University of Nairobi. It was elevated to a University in 1987 through an Act of Parliament.
Since its inception, the University has registered significant expansion in student numbers, academic programmes and physical facilities. Currently the University has a student population of over 15,000 and a staff number of 1,900 and consists of three campuses (Njoro, Nakuru Town and Nairobi City Campus)

Applicants must have the following academic/professional qualifications:
- A degree in Print Media & Electronic Media, Communications & Media, Journalism or its equivalent from a recognized institution
- Must have at least three (3) years experience in a related capacity
- Must be fluent in both English and Kiswahili
- Must have done Editing for print and Electronic media
- Must be able to use the current audio editing software (Cool edit Pro or Adobe Audition)
- Must be conversant with Media Law and Ethics.
- Those with exposure within an academic institution’s studio will have an added advantage.
SALARY SCALE for Grade 8: Kshs.21,824 x 882 – 25,120 x 1008 – 31,168 per month
