MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manage and liase with writers, internal and external, on all editorial aspects
• Generate and develop story ideas that are relevant to the target market
• Oversee the commission and management of features content
• Originate editorial ideas and source articles
• Evaluate and edit features to ensure they are in line with content, tone and style of the magazine
• Assist the editor in compiling the features and special sections content of the magazine
• Communicate clear briefs to freelancers and staff writers and manage content to completion
• Mentor junior staff
• Foster strong relationships in the industry and represent the magazine at functions
• Deputise for the editor in her absence
• Participate in and contribute to strategic planning
• Assist the editor in implementing editorial policy
• Keep within editorial budgets
• Manage the features and production systems
REQUIREMENTS
• A tertiary qualification in journalism, arts, languages or a related profession
• At least five years' experience at a magazine or in a related field in a senior management position
• A passion for the media industry
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• The ability and willingness to work overtime when deadlines demand it
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Outstanding knowledge of the True Love market and the ability to translate this knowledge into compelling editorial content
• Outstanding English first-language skills
• Have an excellent grasp of legal and ethical issues
