South Africa's leading content-marketing agency, New Media, is seeking a talented writer to work on Rapport's My Tyd magazine with immediate effect.
The successful candidate will be required to write well-researched copy covering a range of lifestyle-related subjects, from news snippets and web posts to advertorials and in-depth feature articles. Applicants must be able to generate story ideas, conduct detailed research and interviews and work effectively under pressure.
PREREQUISITES FOR THIS POSITION
• A relevant tertiary journalism or English/Afrikaans qualification and at least five years' media experience, preferably on a magazine (feature writing experience will be an advantage).
• An excellent command of English and Afrikaans, faultless grammar, punctuation and spelling, superb creative writing skills and a keen eye for copy editing.
• An enthusiasm for all things lifestyle-related, a passion for travel, sport and entertainment and a broad knowledge of both the international and local industries.
• A nose for interesting facts and people, and a resourceful nature.
• The ability to work within the set style of the magazine.
• Efficiency, time-management skills and a willingness to learn.
• The ability to work well as part of a team and under pressure.
• A self-starter able to work productively without direct supervision.
• A valid driver's license.
• Excellent people skills
• Ability to meet tight deadlines
• Willingness to work overtime when required
• Strong grasp of brand awareness
• Excellent computer skills
