Job Opening: Copy Editor for GetSmarter (South Africa)

This is an entry-level position, suitable for a hard-working individual with strong language ability and proofreading skills. Salary is negotiable based on competency and relevant experience.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The academic department is responsible for managing the GetSmarter product - the courses. The academic department develops new courses from conception to launch. The role of an academic officer includes the following responsibilities:
  • proofing and editing content during new course development and review;
  • review existing courses and oversee all changes and updates;
  • write marketing articles;
  • edit all company communication (e.g. emails, newsletters and process documents);
  • prepare and teach English lessons to GetSmarter staff.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: University degree in English, linguistics, creative writing, or media studies.

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • 40-hour working week;
  • work is normally performed in a typical office work environment, but may involve attendance at meetings out of office;
  • overtime and after-hours work will be required.

POSITION IN COMPANY: The academic officer will report to the academic manager.
