The Kinyua Ngeera Education Foundation (KNEF) is a not-for-profit organization that runs an education fund. It was founded in early 2009 and officially launched on the 28th of June, 2009. Our Vision is to “Educate a child, develop a leader, secure the future”. Our Mission is “to educate bright but needy students, form friendships with them and empower them with leadership skills that are necessary for every society, to the glory and honor of God”.
As a fund raising activity, The KNEF will be publishing a collection of short stories later this year. Writers are hereby invited to submit their stories as per the guidelines below:
- Stories should be 5-8 pages long with 1.5 line spacing
- They should center on one of the below themes:
- Education
- Environment
- Only in Kenya
- My first time in Kenya
- My first time abroad
- Poetry is also invited, based on the above themes, and should not be longer than a page, with 1.5 line spacing
- Stories must be sent to mfk@knef.or.ke by August 16th Midnight, and MUST include the author’s full Name, telephone number, and email address.
The authors of the selected stories will receive a token of appreciation, and their pieces will be published later in the maiden edition of Memoirs From Kenya. Any author may submit only 1 entry in each category, i.e., 1 story and 1 poem.
Writers of the winning stories will be notified by telephone call or email and will be required to attend a writers forum in August. They will also be invited to the book launch at a date to be announced later in the year.
