Experienced Journalist Wanted to Head Elle Magazine's Johannesburg Office

We’re looking for an experienced, networked journalist to head up the Johannesburg office, represent the brand in Johannesburg and help shape the content of its features, lifestyle and entertainment sections, both in the magazine and on its online and social media platforms.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

• generate ideas for relevant content
• write and commission features
• co-ordinate shoots
• conduct interviews
• contribute to the lifestyle and entertainment sections
• contribute to online and social media platforms
• represent ELLE at functions
• be the brand’s eyes and ears in Johannesburg
• stay abreast of social and lifestyle trends
• assist the marketing department as required.

REQUIREMENTS

• strong spoken and written language skills
• excellent prioritising and time-management skills
• a commitment to quality and accuracy
• strong interpersonal skills
• a wide range of interests, including but not confined to fashion and beauty
• driver’s licence and own transport

PERSONAL SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES

• good judgement
• the ability to work independently and as part of a team
• a positive, can-do attitude

This position is suited to a talented all-rounder with a journalism qualification who has at least three years’ experience in a magazine environment, preferably as a writer.
